Morley Bedford was born in
Aurora just before the turn of the century. He was the son of a Methodist
minister. He later married Mabel Crawford whose family founded Pickering,
Ontario. In 1919, Mr. Bedford began providing funeral servicesin Woodstock.
Five years later he purchased a house at 21 Dupont St. and moved his
business operations to Toronto. |

In June of 1934, Mr. Bedford
purchased a site for his new funeral home at 159 Eglinton Avenue West
and construction began shortly thereafter. It was at our current location
where Mr. Bedford established himself as one of the most respected
funeral directors in the city of Toronto. |

Robert Crawford, nephew of
Morley Bedford and Vice-Chairman of Morley Bedford Funeral Services
Limited, was born in Brampton, Ontario and joined the firm in 1948.
He has also distinguished himself in the funeral profession through
his appointment to serve on the Ontario Board of Funeral Services from
1982-1986. Mr. Crawford is now joined by his sons, Alan and Philip
Crawford. |
